Covenant weapons come in various shapes, sizes, and colors. Most of their weapons use plasma technology, though a few of their weapons have been known to use projectiles or ballistic charges. Their main drawback is the fact that the UNSC simply doesn't know how to recharge the power cores of most of the plasma-based weapons. Also, it should be noted that the Covenant's weapons actually seem to have a more damaging effect on the Covenant's own technology. The Elite's energy shield, and the Jacklal's wrist shields seem to be particularly susceptible to energy based weapons. The only known weapons of the Covenant that actually use projectiles are the Needler, which fires small, guided crystals, and the the Brute Shot, which fires a ballistic grenade.
